Soundproofing glossary definition of sound exposure level

sound exposure level :

Ten times the logarithm of the ratio of a given time integral of squared instantaneous A-weighted sound pressure, over a stated time interval or event, to the product of the squared reference sound pressure of 20 micropascals and reference duration of one second. The frequency weighting and reference sound exposure may be otherwise if stated explicitly. Unit, (dB); symbol, L AE.
